pas·sion
[pash - uhn]
1. a strong affection or enthusiasm for an object, concept, etc.
2. any strongly felt emotion, such as love, hate, envy, etc.
I am driven by my passions. The things that engage me — the things make my heart beat a little faster — they influence everything I do. Lucky for me, there are a lot of passions in my life. I find this happens when your close friends describe you as an “excited puppy”. Apparently this is a good thing.
I have found art and culture fascinating since I was young. Especially in this modern age where user generated media dominate and glocalization opens doors to new and beautiful traditions. My own artistic experiences, creativity and skills continue to grow as I explore new avenues and ways of expression. Writing term papers where I am able to investigate questions of our culture is something I do in my spare time. When these things combine, I thrive.
Human rights violations destroy lives every day and the world turns a blind eye. Basic things such as food, clean water and shelter are denied to billions of people. Poverty has always been a strange concept for me because letting it continue makes no logical sense to me. I know my path will lead me to a life where I raise awareness, educate and work to eradicate poverty at home and all over the globe. It’s what I was born to do.
There are many topics surrounding food which I’m engaged with. I love to experiment in the kitchen and try new recipes. I’ve recently become a very strict vegetarian and could talk for hours about why this has been the right decision for me. Factory farming disgusts me and I fully believe it will cause incredible troubles for our planet in our lifetime.
In 2011 I had discovered a love for running then lost it at the end of summer. And in the beginning of 2012 rediscovered my stride along with an interest in health and wellness. I love the things that make me sweat and the happiness I feel from eating right. My goals are to get in shape, loose a bunch of weight and run a half marathon on August 11th. Time to get my butt in gear.
These passions, as diverse as they may seem, are so intertwined. And I am certain they will grow, develop and I’ll discover new passions on my journey.
Currently studying Communication and Interactive Art&Technology at Simon Fraser University, I find inspiration from everyone and everything that surrounds me. Currently I am organizing a Fashion Show fundraising event for the Servants Anonymous Foundation with a fantastic team I was able to hand pick. I am in my happy place when I pick up a paintbrush or a camera. On the side I love to dance like a fool, watch the B.C Lions kick football butt and surround myself with loved ones.
